GSIS worker murdered in Valenzuela

-
Northern Police District Office (NPDO) director Senior Superintendent Vidal Querol ordered yesterday a deeper investigation into the murder of a Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) employee shot to death by two men in jungle-green camouflage suits inside his house early Friday night in Valenzuela City.

Found by probers lying in a pool of blood was victim Brando Esperancilla, 44, of 798 Coloong 1, Valenzuela City. Esperancilla sustained multiple gunshot wounds in the body from an M-16 Armalite rifle and a caliber .45 pistol the two suspects used in the murder.

Querol told reporters that he created a special task force to be led by city police commander Superintendent Nemesio Neron to conduct a thorough probe of the grisly death of Esperancilla.

Querol said his men are looking at the most probable angle, illegal drug operations.

Initial investigation showed that the victim was fixing a small fishnet for an aquarium around 7:30 p.m. when the two armed suspects, both clad in camouflage military uniform, hit.

Witnesses said the man with the M-16, apparently, a sharpshooter, hit the victim with a burst from his rifle at more or less 20 meters from where he stood, his back to the assassin. The victim crumpled at the first volley. – Jerry Botial
