The Manila Broadcasting Co. (MBC) further strengthened its position as the country’s leading radio network both in terms of reach and listenership as its stations dominated the four most recent surveys conducted by the Radio Research Council (RRC) in Metro Manila and also Lucena, Cebu and Baguio cities.
In a press statement, the MCB said dzRH, its flagship AM station, emerged as the most dominant station in the areas covered by the most recently released RRC survey. Utilizing a format of balanced news, public affairs, dramas and "infotainment" programs, dzRH ranked among the top stations in Metro Manila, Lucena, Baguio and Cebu.
"Back in 1996, dzRH went nationwide via satellite broadcasting to 20 relay stations, we conceived of a single station appealing to the mass market all over the country. We are glad that survey results constantly indicate that we are right on track with our objectives," said MBC president Ruperto Nicdao Jr.
Three other MBC radio networks on the FM band – Yes! FM 101.1, Love Radio, and Hot GM also fared well both in Metro Manila and the provinces. Yes! FM 101.1 in Metro Manila, barely in its third year of operations, also emerged for the first time as the overall number one FM station in the country. RRC data show that Yes! FM 101.1 was particularly dominant during weekdays cornering an audience share 20.3 percent.
MBC owns and operates the largest radio network in the Philippines and all of Asia with 174 radio stations all over the country. Its flagship station, DzRH is the oldest radio station in the country, covering 97 percent of the archipelago.
