Abalos leading; Salvador faces defeat

Incumbent Mandaluyong City Mayor Benhur Abalos Jr. and his partymates are leading their rivals in the unofficial partial results of the elections in the city.

Initial results showed Abalos of the administration party People’s Power Coalition (PPC), garnering 4,883 votes against former Vice Mayor Ernesto "Bibot" Domingo with 2,906 votes.

In the vice mayoral race, Abalos’ running mate incumbent Vice Mayor Jessie Cruz has 4,333 votes compared to actor Philip Salvador who has 3,333 votes.

In the race for the city’s lone congressional seat, re-electionist Rep. Neptali "Boyet" Gonzales has 4,978 votes while Angie Domingo-Buan has 2,004 votes.

In Marikina City mayoral race, Maria Lourdes Fernando, the wife of third-termer Mayor Bayani Fernando of the Kabayani Party gained 19,423 votes against PPC’s Romeo Candazo who garnered 11,148 votes.

Fernando’s running mate, Marlon Andres, has 16,068 votes against Joseph Banson of Aksyon Demokratiko with 6,090 votes.

In the contest for Marikina’s lone congressional seat, Del de Guzman of Kabayani garnered 12,807 votes against PPC’s Vergilio Farcon’s 6,480 votes. Non Alquitran
