Pasay jail guard stabbed dead by escapees

-
A Pasay City jail guard was mauled and stabbed dead yesterday morning allegedly by the three remaining inmates who remain at large after last Saturday’s jailbreak.

Senior Inspector Reynaldo Barral, Pasay police investigation chief, identified the victim as JO1 Victor Agustin, 21, a resident of San Mateo, Rizal. Agustin succumbed to multiple stab wounds in the body while being taken to the Pasay City General Hospital.

Investigation showed a group of three young men had cornered Agustin while he was walking along F.B. Harrison street in this city at around 12:30 a.m.

The men then pulled out knives, ganged up on Agustin, and scampered away leaving Agustin lying in a pool of blood in the sidewalk.

Probers, it was learned, has ruled out robbery as the motive for the killing of Agustin.

It will be recalled that 16 inmates escaped from the Pasay jail last Saturday. Of the 16, seven has been recaptured with nine remaining at large. Manhunt operations against them are still ongoing.

Probers said the escapees may have harbored grudges against Agustin while they were serving time inside the jail.

Meanwhile, scavengers searching for recyclable garbage beside the Tumana River in Marikina City had the biggest shock of their lives when they fished out a decomposing human head.

Investigators said the head belonged to one of the three boys whose headless bodies were found inside a village in Novaliches, Quezon City last April 16.

Senior Inspector Rodolfo Jaraza, head of the Central Police District-Criminal Investigation Unit, said scavengers fished out the head of Rolando Popanes, 18, at the Tumana River in Marikina City at around 9:45 a.m. yesterday.

"We are still looking for the heads of the two other victims," noted Jaraza, who vowed to intensify the search for the immediate recovery of the heads of victims Kenny Azana, 16 and a certain Badjao.

The headless bodies of the three victims, linked to a series of cellular phone snatching incidents in Batasan area before the killings, were recovered in a grassy vacant lot inside Cresta Verde Subdivision, Sta. Monica, Novaliches, Quezon City last month.

The CPD filed three counts of murder and attempted murder against P02 Dennis Blasco and PO3 Mario Morales, both assigned to CPD-Station 6 (Batasan), police informants Romeo Aguado, 31, Almario Bernardino, 32, and Rommel Villas, 33.

Police anchored the charges against the five suspects on the accounts of six witnesses, including a mute-parking attendant who claimed to have witnessed the brutal slaying of the three boys inside a safehouse in Barangay Culiat in Quezon City. Rainier Allan Ronda and Cecille Suerte Felipe
