Senakulo slated at Luneta today

Residents of Metro Manila need not go far to watch a "Senakulo."

Bagong Sikat Cultural and Sports Association (BSCSA) will present the street play on Jesus Christ’s passion at the Luneta grounds today.

BSCSA president Isagani Gellidon that in observance of the Lenten season, their group has been presenting the seven-act musical passion entitled "Anak ng Dios" in various parts of the country for the past 24 years.

But this year and in future Holy Weeks, Gellidon said, BSCSA will stage the show in Metro Manila so that residents do not have to go to the provinces to watch a senakulo.

The street play can be witnessed at the Luneta grounds from 7 a.m. till 11 a.m. and from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Maundy Thursday.

Metro Manila residents can also catch the presentation from 7 p.m. to 12 midnight today and tomorrow at the Department of Tourism (DOT) building.

The staging of a senakulo at Luneta is part of presentations organized by the DOT in observance of the Holy Week. Other activities include the "14 Stations of the Cross" in Luneta and the "Kuwaresma" at Nayong Pilipino. – Mayen Jaymalin
