A security guard was killed while a driver was wounded during a robbery in a gasoline station in Quezon City Thursday night.
The fatality was identified as Richard Paleracio, 28, of the King Security Service detailed at the Caltex gasoline station along Regalado Avenue in Barangay Sta. Monica, Quezon City, which was robbed by 10 heavily armed men.
Wounded was Diosdado Advincula, 36, of Palmera 4, also in Barangay Sta. Monica, shot by the robbers when he drove into the gasoline station on board his Isuzu Hi-Lander to buy gasoline.
Investigation showed that the robbers arrived at the gasoline station on board a blue Isuzu Hi-Lander (TVT-939) and asked a helper to fill the gas tank. Two of the robbers approached the cashier while the other served as lookout.
Paleracio tried to stop them but one of the robbers standing behind him shot him twice in the head and back. While getting the cash, robbers spotted Advincula approaching the establishment and fired at him.
Police said the robbers escaped with the loot amounting to about P35,000, the whole days earnings of the station.
Meanwhile, three persons believed to be members of a notorious FX-taxi robbery syndicate were arrested after a brief chase during the rush hour in Makati City yesterday.
SPO3 Jun Asinas identified the suspects as Jimmy Ocampo, 28, Agustin Valle, 30, and Romeo Pagaran, 26, all residents of Eastern Bicutan, Taguig.
According to Asinas, the three men held up a Mitsubishi Adventure taxi bound for Makati from Taguig at the corner of Pasay Road and Pasong Tamo.
The robbers divested the two remaining passengers of their cell phones, cash and other valuables.
After taking the loot, the suspects ordered the driver to drop them off at the base of the Buendia fly-over.
Immediately after the suspects got off, the driver made a U-turn on EDSA to chase the suspects who boarded a passenger bus headed for Alabang.
When the taxi overtook the bus, the driver called on patrolling policemen who stopped the bus and apprehended the three suspects.
Seized from the robbers were two .38 caliber revolvers with ten rounds of ammunition and a fan knife. Marvin Sy
