Trader mauled, robbed by cops?

A Chinese businessman was beaten and robbed of $3,500 the other night in Binondo, Manila, by four unidentified men wearing police uniforms.

Senior Police Officer 1 Ceasar Villegas said the victim, Huang Yin Oleng, 34, of Fujian, China was temporarily residing at 917 Ongpin St., Sta. Cruz, Manila.

Police said Huang was walking along Quintin Paredes street on his way home from a party at the Royal Garden Restaurant, in Ongpin, when the suspects appeared and blocked his way at about 8:30 p.m.

The suspects demanded to see the victim’s Alien Certificate of Registration (ACR). But as the victim was about to hand over the document, the suspects pounced on him and dragged him inside a waiting van (with plate number FGL-883) which sped towards Divisoria.

According to the victim, the suspects took turns in boxing him and hitting him with a steel pipe inside the van. The victims said he was beaten until he lost consciousness.

Huang said he regained consciousness on Nueva street in Binondo and discovered that his wallet containing $3,500 was missing.

The victim reported the incident to the Binondo Police Station. Operatives are now tracking down the suspects.

Meanwhile, a construction worker was killed after being shot six times by a security guard in Tondo, early yesterday morning.

Police identified the victim as Gerry Obenita, 21, single and a stay-in worker of the Mass Dynamic Building Corporation, at Elcano street in Tondo. Obenita was walking around the construction compound at about 7 a.m. when he unintentionally bumped into suspect Christian Amparo, 21, of the Adique Security Agency. – Mike Frialde
