The Makati police are hunting down a son of Sen. Robert Jaworski whom they accused of buying shabu from a known drug dealer in the city last Monday.
Senior Inspector Cesar Garcia, chief of the Makati polices Drug Enforcement Unit (DEU), told reporters that Ryan Joseph Jaworski and his wife, Bernadette, will be charged with possession of illegal drugs at the Makati prosecutors office.
Sen. Jaworski, however, denied the allegations of the police, saying that Ryan and Bernadette are not involved in illegal drugs.
Inspector Marcial Fa-ed, leader of the DEU team who took part in the buy-bust operation, said they were monitoring the movements of a certain Boy Chavez, a notorious drug dealer in Makati, when Ryan, along with Bernadette, arrived at the scene at about 4:40 p.m. last Monday.
Fa-ed said Ryan allegedly bought 2.5 grams of shabu worth P2,500 through a middleman, who was identified as Michael Calimbahin, 26.
Fa-ed said his men pounced on Ryan and Bernadette, who were aboard a red Ford pickup truck, and identified themselves as policemen, after the deal had been struck.
Fa-ed said Bernadette handed the packet of shabu to Ryan who, in turn, turned it over to the policemen, along with his Senate calling card, before speeding away.
Fa-ed said Ryan almost ran over one of his men as the couple escaped from the anti-narcotics agents.
Calimbahim, however, was arrested and is now detained at the Southern Police District headquarters at Fort Bonifacio, he said.
