-
An ex-policeman who has been charging police applicants P10,000 each for direct entry into the Philippine National Police (PNP) was arrested in an entrapment yesterday morning just outside Camp Crame.

Trinidad told Chief Superintendent Nestorio Gualberto, CIDG director, that Medina, who introduced himself as an active policeman, approached him to recently at Camp Crame and offered to assist him gain entry into the PNP.

According to Trinidad, the offer of help was accompanied by the suspect’s asking for P10,000, and a promise that his name would be automatically included in the roster of new police recruits who will take their oath at Camp Vicente Lim in Laguna today.

Convinced, Trinidad claimed that he initially paid the suspect P6,000 with the promise that the balance will be settled after he takes his police oath.

But yesterday, Trinidad unmasked the suspect’s illegal activity and immediately reported the matter to the CIDG. – Jaime Laude

Medina, when interviewed, openly admitted the accusation being attributed him saying "nagawa ko ito dahil sa kawalan (I did it because I have nothing)."
