Oreta to fight Sandoval in Navotas

A one-on-one fight looms between a lawyer-daughter of Sen. Tessie Aquino-Oreta and Rep. Ricky Sandoval for the Malabon-Navotas lone congressional seat.

"It could be a one-on-one fight as no other person has come out to challenge Sandoval," Ver Enriquez, Senator Oreta’s staffer, said.

Aurora Rosario Aquino Oreta, commonly known as "Rissa," is running under the banner of the Nationalist People’s Coalition (NPC).

A Bachelor of Arts in broadcasting, cum laude graduate of the University of the Philippines (UP) in 1991, Rissa finished a Juris Doctor degree at the Ateneo de Manila University.

Though a newcomer in politics, Rissa is not new to the affairs of state as she has extensive experience in political matters, her camp claimed.

Her latest job, aside from being a private secretary of Senator Oreta, was with the Presidential Management Staff (PMS).

Enriquez said that the young Oreta would give Sandoval a good fight for the lone congressional seat because her candidacy is gaining more support from the masses as she embarked on a house-to-house campaign. – Pete Laude
