Muntinlupa NGOs, execs honored

Muntinlupa City Mayor Jaime Fresnedi conferred awards to deserving city hall officials and non-government organizations for their contribution to the city government’s development programs and projects.

Leading the honorees were Teresita "Tez" Valenzia, head of the city’s Public Information Office, who spearheaded the city’s successful information campaigns on waste segregation, environmental awareness and cleanliness, and Dra. Magdalena Meana of the City Health Office, who led the city’s health drive.

Also given awards were Marylilibeth Deloso, head of the city’s agriculture office and Nelia Barlis, City Treasurer’s Office head.

The Environment Sanitation Center of Lorna Misa also bagged an award for their endeavors in promoting a greener Muntinlupa and for its various ecological projects to protect and preserve the environment.

Susan Billena of the City Civil Registry Office was cited for her diligence.

Fresnedi also recognized some non-government organizations (NGOs) for their support for his administration’s undertakings, namely, the Soroptomist International Alabang; the Zonta Club of Muntinlupa which supports the programs for battered women and children; Habitat for Humanity Muntinlupa for its housing projects for the poor; Mercury Drug Corp. for holding medical and dental missions and for giving away free medicines and vitamins to the poor.

Nestle Philippines was cited for supporting the education programs of the city government and other projects; and the Caspar Foundation for donating funds for the construction of additional classrooms and school building.

The mayor also recognized Justice Serafin Guingona as an outstanding citizen of Muntinlupa in the field of the judiciary; Rep. Rolando Andaya for his support of the city’s health programs; and Rep. Rene Cayetano for his contributions to the projects and plans of the city government. – Rainier Allan Ronda
