A Metro Rail Transit (MRT) construction crew doing work on the MRT line at the corner of J.P. Laurel and Legarda street in Quiapo, Manila accidentally hit a 650mm pipeline belonging to Maynilad Water Services Inc. at around 9:50 yesterday morning, causing an unscheduled water service interruption in the area.
Emer Mabunga of Maynilads Primary Network Division said a crew from Hanjin Construction driving board piles in the intersection accidentally struck the pipe.
Mabunga said valves leading to the pipe have been closed to allow the busted pipe to be repaired.
As a consequence, Concepcion Agila street, including its laterals, First, Second and Third streets in San Miguel District, Loreto street in Sampaloc and parts of Quiapo are experiencing from low water pressure to no water.
Mabunga said a Maynilad repair crew is now at the site. Repair work on the busted pipe is expected to be finished by around 12 noon yesterday. Affected consumers may call Maynilad Hotline 1626 for water rationing service.
