Cop, wife rob road accident victims?

A Manila policeman and his wife now face charges of grave threats, robbery and coercion following a complaint filed by a couple and a taxi driver with the Western Police District-General Assignments Section.

The accused were identified as Senior Police Officer 4 Cesar Teneros, detailed with Manila City Hall Special Operations and his wife Lyn, 33, both residents of 1970 Almayda St. Tondo, Manila.

Initial investigation showed that at about 5:30 a.m., Rodrigo Ebardone and his wife Leny, managers of the East Asia KTV were aboard a taxicab driven by Leodegario Habab when they chanced upon a vehicular accident at the corner of Maria Orosa and P. Burgos streets in Ermita, Manila.

Reports said Habab and the Ebardone couple stopped and got out of the cab to assist the injured passengers of the vehicles involved, a tourist bus with plate number PYL-121 and a Toyota Corolla taxicab with plate number PWG-655 driven by a certain Joel Rebuquio.

According to the complainants, the suspects, aboard a jeep, had reached the scene first and apparently tried to assist the injured passengers, too.

But, to the complainants’ surprise, some of the injured passengers, including an unidentified pregnant woman aboard the taxi, shouted and claimed that the suspects had divested them of their jewelry and cash. – Mike Frialde
