PSG man arrested for poking gun at driver

-
A member of the Presidential Security Group was arrested by operatives of the Central Police District-Kamuning Police Station for poking his gun at a jeepney driver over a traffic altercation in Quezon City the other night.

Arrested was Philippine Army Corporal George Bernal, 51, detailed at Malacañang Park in Manila, for poking his gun at a jeepney driver whose vehicle had bumped his Toyota Corolla (NDX 241).

The incident happened at around 7:30 p.m. at the corner of Scout Chuatoco and Champaca Streets, Roxas District, Quezon City.

Police Officer 1 Rommel Merino said Bernal’s vehicle was suddenly bumped by a passenger jeepney plying the Roces-Recto route driven by Ceferino Naquian, 29, of Phase 7 Block 4, Bagong Silang, Caloocan City.

Bernal alighted from his vehicle and confronted Naguian and demanded payment for the damage to his car. The victim declined and explained that he had the right of way.

The suspect drew a handgun and pointed it at the victim’s face.

Responding policemen arrested Bernal who denied that he was a member of the PSG and claimed he was a janitor.

Police recovered a caliber .45 auto pistol and 10 live bullets from the suspect who is now detained at the Kamuning Police Station.

Charges of violation of the Omnibus Election Code (gun ban) and grave threats are set to be filed in the Quezon City Prosecutor’s Office.

Meanwhile, a 34-year-old man was hacked and shot by a father and son during a heated altercation in Quezon City the other night.

Victim Emmanuel Urbano, 34, single, waiter, of 18-11 Building 18 Phase II MRB Pilot Area, Barangay Commonwealth, Quezon City is in critical condition after he sustained hack wounds in different parts of the body. Pia Lee-Brago
