Grenade blasts rock office of National Press Club exec

-
Two fragmentation grenades, lobbed by an unidentified man, exploded at the placement agency of National Press Club director Willie Espiritu in San Andres, Manila early yesterday morning.

Reports reaching Western Police District Station 6 said the two fragmentation grenades exploded at about 3:30 a.m. on the roof and garage of Espiritu’s office at 2557 Opalo st.

Police said no one was hurt by the explosions which considerably damaged Espiritu’s Mercedes Benz, a scooter and a refrigerator.

Espiritu, formerly a commentator of DWAN A.M.radio, was in Japan when the incident happened, police said.

Probers are having a hard time gathering leads on the case as witnesses only managed to jot down the control numbers of the license plates of suspect’s red getaway car, "333." Witnesses said the grenades were lobbed by a mestizo-looking man, about 5’7" tall.

After lobbing the grenades, the suspect quickly boarded the red car which sped away. – Mike Frialde
