NPD country’s best police district

- Pete Laude -
The Northern Police District was adjudged yesterday the country’s best police district for the year 2000 during a ceremony marking the Philippine National Police (PNP’s) 10th anniversary in Camp Crame.

Superintendent Rey Castro, NPD’s planning and operations chief, said the award was received by newly-promoted district director Chief Superintendent Jose Marlowe Pedregosa.

"The award means bigger challenge for us in maintaining peace and order within our AOR (area of responsibility)," Castro said.

Castro noted that the NPD was also named National Capital Region’s best police district in 1999 and 2000 for its exemplary performance.

The NPD covers the so-called Camanava (Caloocan, Malabon, Navotas, Valenzuela) area of Metro Manila.

In accepting the award, Pedregosa assured the public and the newly established government of President Arroyo that the NPD will always uphold the law, giving due importance to "unity, diplomacy, and proper handling of peace and order."

Pedregosa also vouched for a safe Camanava area, to live, work, invest and do business.

"Let me assure you that we are continuously trying our very best to be of immediate help to you whenever the need arises," Pedregosa said.

Castro said that for the year 2000, the NPD posted a 96.7-percent rating in crime solution efficiency. He added that because of the public’s growing confidence with the police, crimes were immedately brought to their concern.
