The Caloocan City Regional Trial Court sentenced last Tuesday a Chinese drug pusher to life imprisonment for selling more than 200 grams of shabu to a couple early last year.
Michael Sy, 28, a resident of Gen. Luna Street, Binondo, Manila, was found guilty of violating the Dangerous Drugs Act. Judge Myrna Vidal also ordered him to pay a fine of P5 million.
Records showed that Sy was arrested on July 20 last year in front of a church in Grace Park, Caloocan, during a buy-bust operation conducted by the Valenzuela Police Drug Enforcement Unit.
Policemen acted after Reynaldo Santos, 30, and his wife Maritess, 31, admitted that they had been buying illegal drugs from the accused.
Prior to Sys arrest, the couple was collared by police in their house on M. De Los Reyes Street, Gen. T. de Leon, Valenzuela City. Maritess later agreed to help the police apprehend Sy. Matthew Estabillo
