Taguig student brings gun to school, jailed

An high-school student was jailed after he was caught in the act of sneaking a home-made shotgun into his school in Taguig yesterday morning.
Superintendent Artemio Bermido, Taguig police chief, identified the suspect as Julius Galvante, 18, a senior at the Gen. Ricardo Papa High School on Gen. Luna street in barangay Tuktukan.
Galvante, a resident of 28 Daisy St. in Barangay Lower Bicutan, was collared by the schools security guards who found the "sumpak", a home-made shot gun popular among street youth gangs, in his bag during inspection at the school entrance gate at around 7 a.m.
Galvante is now detained at the town police detention center while charges of illegal possession of firearms are being readied by the authorities against him. Rainier Allan Ronda
