Jueteng men arrested

At least 13 jueteng personnel and bet collectors were arrested and P2,000 in cash bets were recovered in a renewed police crackdown against illegal gambling in Metro Manila Wednesday.

And the Southern and Eastern Police Districts are racing against each other to arrest Eduardo "Eddie" Caro, tagged by police as the new "jueteng king" in the metropolis.

The crackdown was ordered by Metro Manila police Chief Director Edgar Aglipay after a series of exposes’ by The STAR showing that jueteng in the metropolis is back at the height of President Estrada’s impeachment trial. – Non Alquitran
