Police are facing a blank wall in the investigation on the killing of a newspaper account executive last Wednesday in front of a videoke bar in Quezon City.
Agents of the Central Police District-Criminal Investigation Unit (CPD-CIU) have yet to establish leads on the identities of the killers of Gaynor Sorsogon, 51, of 190 Aquarius Avenue, Bancom Life Subdivision, San Mateo, Rizal, an account executive of Sunstar and Malaya Publications Inc. who was shot dead by three men during a heated altercation over a guest relation officer (GRO).
Senior Police Officer 1 Cresencio Bajao, officer-on-case, said yesterday a witness in the shooting, said to be a cigarette vendor, failed to identify the suspects from the CPD criminal photo gallery.
Investigators said the cigarette vendor saw the killers shoot Sorsogon while the latter was begging for his life. The witness told investigators that the killers could have been policemen because they were trained in handling firearms.
Bajao said investigators are not ruling out the possibility that the killers are members of the Philippine National Police. He ordered the drawing of cartographic sketches of the suspects.
Investigation showed that the suspects fled after the shooting along with the fatal weapon on board a motorcycle.
Reports said Gaynor had a heated argument with his attackers at around 1:15 a.m. in front of J&L Videoke Bar along Kamuning Road corner T. Gener Street, Quezon City. Pia Lee-Brago
