Biting girls cheek gives Yves a problem
December 28, 2000 | 12:00am
Ginebra San Miguel basketball team forward Yves Dignadice was slapped with charges of physical injuries yesterday for allegedly pulling the hair and biting the cheek of his former live-in partner in Pasig City.
Dignadice, 37, is the second Philippine Basketball Association player to be accused of physical injuries in the Pasig City police station within the span of two weeks.
First to be charged with the same offense was Antero "Terry" Saldaña of the Batang Red Bull team. He was accused of punching their family driver in the mouth over a P100 debt.
Both Dignadice and Saldaña play physical in the hardcourt and are tasked by their respective teams to guard high-scoring players, especially imports.
In her complaint, Maria Pamela Morris, a native of England and an investment adviser, said the incident occured at around 10 a.m. in the parking lot of Crisanta Condominium along Kapitan street in Barangay Orambo, Pasig City.
Superintendent John Sosito, Pasig City police chief, said Dignadice asked Morris last week to let him have custody of their son Bryce so he could celebrate Christmas with him. The victim agreed, but only on condition that he be returned on Dec. 26.
Early morning Tuesday, Morris called up Dignadice and informed him of their agreement. The PBA player turned over the boy when she picked him up and even opened her car door.
But to Morris surprise, the cager suddenly grabbed and pulled her hair before biting her cheek. Dignadice let her go when she fought back, she said.
The STAR tried but failed to contact Dignadice for his comment. Non Alquitran
