Camanava flood control projects approved

-
It’s business as usual for President Estrada, as he announced yesterday the approval of a P3.9 billion budget for the Caloocan-Malabon-Navotas-Valenzuela flood control project.

Estrada appeared before thousands of Malabon and Navotas residents and said that the national government will allocate funds for the immediate solution of flood problems in the northern metropolis.

The President, who gave his speech in M. Noval Street, Navotas, also thanked the people for their continued support for his administration despite charges of graft and corruption against him.

Estrada added that he will accept whatever is the result of the impeachment trial, but reiterated that he never pocketed money from illegal gambling operations.

"My conscience is clean, and I believe that truth will prevail as soon as the impeachment trial is over," Estrada said.

Malabon and Navotas mayors Amado Vicencio and Toby Tiangco also expressed their support for the embattled Chief Executive and called on the public to focus on more serious problems.

The flood control and drainage system projects had a proposed P2.5 billion budget, but Estrada upped it to P3.9 billion. He said this will help the immediate construction of floodwalls and river dikes.

Estrada also claimed that the mass housing program of the government is already underway, and that it will provide about 600 housing units for the poor there. Matthew Estabillo
