Laarni’s dad denounced on cemetery row

The father of President Estrada’s favorite mistress is on the spot again after a memorial park executive said that he had no basis for claiming co-ownership of disputed burial lots in Caloocan City.

Alfonso Enriquez, father of former actress Laarni Enriquez, was called an "influence peddler" by Eternal Gardens Chairman Gabriel Vida who said that Enriquez did not "spend a centavo for any portion" of the park. The former actress is one of Mr. Estrada’s mistresses.

Enriquez, who signed a memorandum of agreement with one Lilia Sevilla, the rightful owner of a portion of Eternal Gardens, asserted he was co-owner of the land.

But even when the MOA expired earlier this year, Vida said Enriquez still presented himself as Sevilla’s representative.

Vida also accused Enriquez of falsifying the MOA by making the expiration date read "2005".

Enriquez demanded that some 200 burial lot owners shell out P100,000 each to buy back the property from him.

But the dominantly Chinese grave owners refused, saying the lots have been fully paid for. The case is currently pending at the Caloocan City Regional Trial Court.

The case started in 1983 when Eternal Gardens bought the land from Central Dyeing and Finishing Corporation. However, Central Dyeing and Sevilla were still in litigation over the land. – Matthew Estabillo
