Men with ‘toy gun’arrested

Four young men were arrested yesterday for shooting at barangay officials and mauling a 22-year-old man in Caloocan City.

The suspects, now detained at the Caloocan City Police detention cell, were identified as Rommel Abella, 21, Arman Sarceno, 20, Virgilio Villacorte, 22, and Glen Pido, 21, all residents of Maypajo, Caloocan.

They were arrested after beating up Jonathan Judaison, of Talilong Street. Judaison is now receiving medical treatment at a city hospital.
The police recovered the suspects’ weapon, and described it as an "improvised plastic toygun loaded with .22-caliber bullets."

According to police, the incident occurred at about 11 p.m. along Lerma street in Maypajo.

The victim was reportedly walking home when the suspects ganged-up on him.

Residents who witnessed the assault immediately called for help, and several barangay officials responded.

The suspects tried to escape, with Abella firing at the barangay officials with the loaded toygun. They were apprehended a few minutes later.

The gun was confiscated and is now being examined at the PNP Crime Laboratory. – Matthew Estabillo
