-
Anti-narcotics agents of the Central Police District arrested Sunday the most elusive drug-pushing couple allegedly behind the proliferation of shabu in Tandang Sora, Quezon City.

In a press briefing, CPD chief Chief Superintendent Victor Luga said Nelson Mayagbag, 31, jeepney driver, of K-Mart Terminal, Katipunan Avenue, Quezon City and Analene Aungayan, 27, of Barangay Culiat, Tandang Sora, Quezon City were arrested in a drug bust on Sunday around 9:15 A.M. at Rosalia Compound, Tandang Sora.

Police anti-narcotics agents seized 25 grams of shabu, a caliber .357 revolver with six live bullets, a caliber .22 derringer, a caliber .357 speed reloader and a weighing scale from the duo.

CPD-Station 9 commander, police Superintendent Ernesto Tesoro, said they had been receiving information about the success of the duo, who are both separated from their spouses, in eluding police traps in the past.

The duo were charged with violations of Republic Act No. 6425 and Presidential Decree No. 1866 before the City Prosecutor’s Office yesterday.

Operatives of CPD-Station10 also arrested on Sunday Jovinal Baja, 24, of Kaingin I, Barangay Pasol, Quezon City who held up Romeo Alcantara, 52, taxi driver, of Jordan Plains, Novaliches, Quezon City.

The suspect divested the victim of his earnings amounting to P3,000 after boarding his taxi Sunday at 2 a.m. along University Avenue, UP Diliman and used a bladed weapon to threaten him.

The victim fought fiercely for his earnings and sustained cuts in his right arm and elbow.

He sought the help of a UP security guard, who together with policemen, apprehended the suspect in the vicinity of Purok Ricarte. – Pia Lee-Brago
