18 drug pushers, users fall

Eighteen persons were apprehended by members of the Central Police District-Drug Enforcement Unit (CPD-DEU) in two separate operations conducted in Quezon City on Saturday.
The arrest was made after a week-long surveillance by DEU operatives based on information and reports of concerned citizens about the drug-related activities in four barangays in Quezon City.
Arrested were Marlon Magsaysay, 29; Allan Castro, 13; Fernando Quirit, 47; Aurelio Blascokapwa, 26; Ramon Zare, 28; Reynaldo Dimal, 38; Jose Vidal, 30; Edgardo Lobrido, 26; Reynaldo Rodriguez, 50; and Marcial Mallari.
They were arrested in the first operation conducted by DEU in barangays Kaunlaran in Del Monte, Pag-ibig sa Nayon, and Damayang Lagi, all in Quezon City.
Six others were arrested in the second drug operation of DEU conducted at F. Torres st., Barangay Pag-ibig sa Nayon.
Two suspected drug pushers – Jaime Esguerra, 41 and Bartolome Nati, 30 – were also apprehended in Barangay Balingasa. DEU elements recovered 410 grams of shabu from them.
Charges of drug trafficking and drug possession will be filed against the arrested suspects before the Quezon City Prosecutor’s Office this week. – Pia Lee-Brago
