One-hour fire razes houses in Pandacan

-
A fire of still unknown origin hit a residential area in Pandacan, Manila yesterday afternoon.

The fire reached Task Force Charlie level and engulfed some 20 shanties at the corner of Certeza St. and Road 3 at about 2:47 p.m.

At least 13 firetrucks and volunteer fire teams from Manila, Makati, Muntinlupa and Quezon City arrived at the scene to control the blaze, which, according to the Manila Central Fire Alarm, was near the oil depot facilities.

The fire was declared under control at 3:25 p.m. and was declared extinguished at 3:40 p.m. Initial investigation showed that the blaze started at an abandoned house owned by a certain Ely Kahinhog at 2728 Alley 5.

As of presstime, there were no reported casualties. – Mike Frialde
