In a bid to save himself from being arrested by policemen, a security guard caught stealing copper wires shot dead yesterday his fellow employee at the Manila Paper Mills in Sangandaan, Quezon City.
Thirty-four-year-old William Oblino, single, of 18 5th Avenue, Murphy, Cubao, died on the spot from gunshot wounds in his abdomen.
Investigator Ramon Fernandez said operatives of the Central Police Districts Station 3 responded to a call from Melencio Saja, officer-in-charge of Energetic Security Agency, who claimed a guard named Ablan was pilfering copper wires.
Sajas agency, along with Ablans Garnet Security Agency both provide security at the Manila Paper Mills located at 391 Quirino Avenue in Sangandaan.
Investigation showed that Saja, along with his colleague, saw Ablan stealing the copper wires from the companys premises late Saturday evening.
CPD operatives arrived after receiving Sajas call, but Ablans colleague Arnel Dequina refused to turn him over, trigerring a shooting incident.
The suspect, armed with a service shotgun, then started firing, hitting Oblino who had just passed by to bring paper products to a parked delivery truck. The suspect managed to escape. Pia Lee-Brago
