June 24 declared a holiday in Manila

MANILA, Philippines — President Marcos has declared June 24 a special non-working holiday in Manila to mark the capital city’s 455th founding anniversary.
Under Proclamation 1320 signed by Executive Secretary Ralph Recto dated June 16, the initiative enjoined Manileños to participate in the occasion.
“It is but fitting and proper that the people of Manila be given full opportunity to join the celebration,” the proclamation stated.
Among the activities prepared by the local government to commemorate Manila’s founding anniversary is the State of the City Address to be delivered by Mayor Isko Moreno at the Quirino Grandstand.
The address will detail Moreno’s accomplishments in his first year under the “Bilis Kilos 2.0” program and will highlight his plans for the city moving forward.
A wreath-laying ceremony will be held at 8 a.m. in Rajah Sulayman Park in Malate, to be followed by the inauguration of a pet park in Plaza Azul, Quirino Avenue.
A feast will be held after Moreno’s address, carrying the theme “Matatag sa Hamon, Pinagtibay ng Panahon” to celebrate the city’s history and culture.
Malacañang also issued Proclamation 1321, declaring a special non-working day in Lian, Batangas for the celebration of Sambuhos Festival, a water-dousing activity honoring the town’s patron, St. John the Baptist.
