CEBU, Philippines – Talisay City police conducted a series of illegal gambling operations in different barangays on Tuesday evening as part of intensified efforts against the social menace.

Superintendent Germano Mallari, chief of Talisay City Police Office, said they started their operations at around 6:30 p.m. in Barangay Tabunok wherein a certain George Tilap, 22, single, resident of Minglanilla town, was arrested.

Police also seized from Tilap's possession stubs and other illegal gambling paraphernalia, including proceeds of illegal numbers game that amounted to P4,000.

Thirty minutes after, Mallari's team arrested Joy Paculaba, 19, single, of Barangay Tanke after she was reportedly caught selling numbers.

Both Tilap and Paculaba, who were said to be attendants of alleged illegal numbers game stalls, have been placed behind bars waiting for appropriate charges to filed against them.

At around 8 p.m., police also confiscated one video karera machine and a moli-moli unit in Sitio Galaxy, Barangay Tanke.  The seized machines are now subject for destruction, said Mallari. (FREEMAN)
