Fired cop shoots neighbor to death

The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines - A man was shot to death by a dismissed police officer last Wednesday evening in Sitio Neighborhood, Barangay Tabunok, Talisay City.

The victim, Simeon Rabadon Jr., 38, single, sustained gunshot wounds on his head and body. He was allegedly shot by his neighbor, Marco Agcol, 37, married.

Senior Police Officer 1 Mikie Espina of Talisay City Police Station told The FREEMAN that the victim and the suspect were having an altercation which escalated to a fistfight.

The fight got worse when both grabbed an iron pipe. However, the commotion stopped when Agcol left the area and went inside their rented house.

Espina said Agcol went back armed with .45 caliber firearm. Agcol then reportedly shot the victim several times, police said.

The victim fell on the ground while the suspect fled and was nowhere to be found.

The victim was rushed to Talisay City District Hospital and later on transferred to Don Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center but the latter did not make it.

Responding police recovered five empty shells and one slug of caliber .45 bullets at the crime scene.

Espina said the suspect has been a member of Philippine National Police with a rank of Police Officer 1 but was dismissed from service after he was found positive of using illegal drugs.

Agcol's last assignment was in Pinamungajan Police Station.

Espina said a hot pursuit operation is being conducted but if they fail to arrest the suspect, then they will proceed with the regular filing of the case.  (FREEMAN)
