DILG serves Soc’s suspension order
CEBU, Philippines – The Department of Interior and Local Government served on Tuesday the 90-day suspension order against Talisay City Councilor Socrates Fernandez.
Provincial DILG director Jerome Gonzales handed the order over to the office of Vice Mayor Romeo Villarante, presiding officer of the City Council.
There were unverified reports that Fernandez's staff did not receive the copy when it was served in his office.
The order came from Ombudsman and signed by Conchita Carpio-Morales.
Earlier, the Office of Visayas Ombudsman reportedly issued the same 90-day suspension order against Fernandez after the investigating office found him guilty in taking a bag from the car which was in the custody of the local police during his stint as the Talisay City mayor.
Fernandez’s car was one of the evidence seized by the authorities when his son, Joavan, was collared after he allegedly consummated a crime.
Fernandez, however, said he did not receive such order.
As such, for the past month, Fernandez continued to attend the council sessions. (FREEMAN)
