Newborn found dead at dumpsite
CEBU, Philippines – A resident found a newly born baby boy placed inside a plastic bag past 3 p.m. on Monday at a dumpsite in Sitio Upper Lime Hills, Barangay Yati, Liloan town.
The baby was already dead when found by Ramil Revillas, 40, resident of the place. Revillas reportedly saw a man leaving in a hurry before he made the discovery.
Police Officer 3 Carin Arcelo of the Women's and Children's Protection Desk of Liloan Police Station said Revillas was trekking a foot path that leads to the school where his child was studying when he noticed the plastic bag in a grassy area.
He only ignored it, thinking it was just a bag of rubbish that was thrown by the unidentified man who hurriedly left upon seeing him.
But another resident checked the plastic bag when she saw swarms of bowfly on it. When she checked, the baby's body which was starting to decompose caught her sight.
Arcelo said that it was clear that the baby was a boy and that he was probably born or may have died within the last 24 hours upon the discovery.
Revillas told investigators that he could recognize the man who may have possibly thrown the plastic pack if ever he will see him again.
Liloan town police are still investigating on the case but clarified that the baby found was not the one kidnapped at Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center in Cebu City on Monday noon. (FREEMAN)
