Alleged drug peddler caught in Lapu-Lapu
CEBU, Philippines – Police arrested a 39-year-old suspected drug dealer in a buy-bust operation in Barangay Punta Engaño, Lapu-Lapu City yesterday morning.
Operatives of the Lapu-Lapu City Police Office confiscated almost P64,000 worth of suspected illegal drugs from Glenn Dihayco, a resident of Sitio Jansen, Barangay Punta Engaño, according to Chief Inspector Mark Gifter Sucalit of the City Anti-Illegal Drugs Special Operations Task Group.
The complaint against Dihayco will be filed after the New Year's Day so he will have to stay in detention during the rest of the holidays, said Sucalit.
The arrest was declared after Dihayco allegedly handed suspected illegal drugs to a police poseur buyer who used marked paper bills around 6:30 a.m. yesterday.
The operatives, Sucalit said, confiscated 5.4 grams of suspected shabu from Dihayco, which consisted of a medium sachet and 10 smaller ones.
The illegal drugs were worth P63,720 based on the Dangerous Drugs Board value.
Dihayco also yielded drug-sniffing paraphernalia and some cash believed to be proceeds from the illegal trade, Sucalit added.
Now detained at the LCPO Holding Cell, the suspect will face a complaint for violating Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
Last Wednesday, an alleged drug peddler who was in the list of Top 10 drug personalities in Lapu-Lapu City was also arrested in a buy-bust. (FREEMAN)
