CEBU, Philippines - The former ally of Mayor Johnny De los Reyes who ran for public office but lost in the past years sent a letter to Visayas Ombudsman to follow up on the case he filed against the top city executive.

Loreto Bonete earlier filed charges of graft and corruption against Mayor JVR and his son, John Yre, who is the city administrator over their alleged purchase of the rescue vehicle which the Commission on Audit (COA) described as overpriced and more expensive than branded vehicles.

On Monday, Bonete personally handed his letter addressed to Deputy Ombudsman Visayas Paul Elmer Clemente aiming to follow up on his case filed against the mayor.

He said the case is already one year pending but that there has been no movement yet.

Bonete said he was happy when Clemente assumed his office saying that his campaign is to fasttrack the resolution of cases lodged before their office.

Bonete filed the case related to Anti-Graft and Corrupt Practices Act against Mayor JVR and John Yre who was also the chairman of the Bids and Awards Committee (BAC).

Mayor JVR earlier slammed the move of Bonete saying that it was purely political.

Mayor JVR and John Yre is also facing charges before the office of Ombudsman filed by businessman Jun Cabrera because of the alleged anomalous hiring of the services of Black Pearl Security Agency.  (FREEMAN)
