Talisay cops looking into e-trike driver's shooting

CEBU, Philippines - An electronic tricycle driver was shot dead by unidentified assailants who were riding motorcycle in Burgos Street, Barangay Dumlog, Talisay City yesterday morning.

The victim, Malanio Junio, 57, resident of Sitio Paglaum, Barangay Dumlog, sustained gunshot wound on the back of his head.

Police Officer 3 Jason Del Campo of Talisay City police told The FREEMAN that the victim was standing by the road waiting for passengers when the assailants arrived.

The back rider disembarked and shot the victim from behind, hitting him on the back of his head. Police said the bullet exited from his forehead.

The victim was rushed to Talisay City District Hospital but was not able to make it. The suspects fled and were nowhere to be found.

Del Campo said they could not yet determine the firearm used by the suspects.

He said the relatives of the victim told them that they were shocked upon knowing the incident considering the victim was, to them, a good man.

Del Campo said they will initiate a deeper investigation into the victim's background, especially on his being a driver of electronic tricycle. — Gabriel C. Bonjoc of BANAT News
