Alleged thief killed by carwash worker

CEBU, Philippines - A man who barged inside a carwash company bunkhouse with a bladed weapon was killed by the firm’s caretaker in a tussle yesterday dawn in Sitio Kimba, Barangay Cansojong, Talisay City.

The body of the victim was found by the police placed inside a water drum at Happy Carwash. The police said he sustained stab wounds in his body and that nobody could identify him.

Senior Police Officer 1 Mikie Espina, investigator at Talisay City Police Office, told The FREEMAN that the suspect, Alenader Barasil, 19, caretaker at the carwash place, voluntarily submitted himself to authorities after the incident.

Espina and his men responded to the scene and found the victim’s body positioned upside down in a blue drum.

Initial investigation revealed that Barasil was sleeping inside the bunkhouse when the victim and his unidentified male companion barged inside.

Police said the victim, who was reportedly armed with a sharp weapon, went inside the bunkhouse and threw punches at Barasil. The latter fought back and was able to disarm the victim.

Barasil then started stabbing the victim, police said, adding that the victim’s companion immediately fled after the commotion.

Due to fear, Barasil told the police that he placed the victim’s body in the drum and then informed his manager, Mauri Azis, about the incident.

Azis, a member of the Muslim community, called his elders to seek advice on what to do. They ended up informing the police about what had happened.

Though Barasil claimed the two unknown men could be there to burglarize the firm, Espina said they will be filing charges against him.

Meanwhile, still in Talisay City, a call center agent was robbed yesterday dawn by two motorcycle-riding men at the NLC Residences on Uldog Street in Barangay San Isidro.

The victim, Albretz Dutan, 35, married, resident of said place, appeared at Talisay City Police Station to seek assistance.

Dutan told police officers that while he was standing along the road, two unidentified perpetrators riding on a black motorcycle, bearing the numbers 5674 on its plate, stopped and approached him.

The back rider disembarked and pulled out a sharp and pointed weapon at him, Dutan alleged. He added that the suspects then declared the holdup.

Fearing for his life, he handed his black bag worth P600; cellular phone worth P5,000; black jacket worth P700 and his identification cards.

The suspects fled from the area after.
