Yayoy slams Apura’s‘gray’ political stance

Gabriel Bonjoc - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines -That Carcar City Mayor Nicepuro Apura has yet to decide on who to support for as vice president despite having attended the luncheon meeting in honor of Leni Robredo did not sit well with First District Board Member Yayoy Alcoseba.

“Pagkawala gyu’y buot. Mao na kana akong giingon ninyo nga magkabang-kabang mo. Kung gusto mag-LP unya gusto magpa-isa, pa-endorse dayon sa governor. Unya diay to, kun naa’y candidate sa LP, moingon dayon nga wala pa makadesider. Tarong ba gud na?” Alcoseba said.

“How immature. That’s what I’ve been telling you. You go black and white. When you wanted LP support, you asked the governor to endorse you. But now that an LP candidate is here, you suddenly become undecided. Is that right?”

Last October, Apura’s candidacy was endorsed by Governor Hilario Davide, the provincial chairman of Liberal Party in Cebu. Robredo is LP’s bet for vice president in 2016.

Apura and other Alayon party affiliated mayors in the first district have been invited to the meeting, including Mayor Valdemar Chiong of Naga City and Mayor Lionel Bacaltos of Sibonga town.

In an interview, Chiong said Davide invited him through a text message but he told the latter it might be awkward to be in the program with the original LP members.

The governor reportedly told Chiong he invited the incumbent mayors only.

But Talisay City Mayor Johnny De los Reyes and Alcoseba failed to come.

Alcoseba said he had an earlier appointment.

The FREEMAN tried to reach the office of De los Reyes but he was not available for comment.

Alcoseba is a first term board member and is vying for mayoralty seat in Carcar City, challenging Apura’s third term try.

Alcoseba said whether he is present in the activity or not, he is clear on his stand to give full support to Robredo and Mar Roxas compared to Apura who, he said, is still undecided.

He said Apura’s statement is too impolite, claiming that Apura even posed for a photo with Robredo.

For his part, Apura said it was Alcoseba who did not show respect with his absence.

Apura explained that they are still to convene with his party on who to support for.

He said his presence in the activity was a show of respect to Davide who invited them.

Apura said they have showed their support to LP despite their political affiliation with Alayon-Nacionalista Party. (FREEMAN)
