3 hurt in shooting
CEBU, Philippines – At least three men who came from a drinking spree were shot by their relatives in Sitio Rattan, Barangay Tanke, Talisay City Friday evening.
The victims, Jomar Daan, 31, single; Philip Sibuco, 28, single; and Jovannie Villaver, 30, single, who all reside in the same place, were brought to the nearest hospital.
They were reportedly shot by Clifford Salibay and Carlos Villaver, both of legal age.
Senior Police Officer 1 Mikie Espina, investigator at Talisay City Police Station, said the victims were having a drinking spree on the road when two suspects armed with .45 caliber opened fire.
The victims fell on the ground while the suspects fled. Police recovered two empty shells of .45 bullets in the crime scene.
Espina said the suspects and victims were just neighbors and are even relatives. Together, they are reportedly related to the deceased Richie Daan who was the number 7 most wanted person in Talisay City killed in a shootout with the police last month.
However, Espina said the incident had nothing to do with the group of Daan. Instead, the motive could only be old grudges.
"The suspects were just too confident to kill since they were influenced by illegal drugs," Espina said.
The victims were brought to Talisay City District Hospital and later transferred to Don Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center.
Police said Jomar sustained severe gunshot wounds.
After three hours, one of the suspects, Carlos, was apprehended by the authorities and placed behind bars.
Appropriate charges will be filed against the suspects. (FREEMAN)
