CEBU, Philippines – Superintendent Ricky Delilis, chief of Naga City Police, will be exhausting the remaining days in the city as he has been relieved by Senior Superintendent Noel Gillamac, director of Cebu Provincial Police Office.

The order was supposed to take effect last October 1 but Gillamac extended Delilis' term just to finish the fiesta celebration on October 12.

Delilis will be assigned in their headquarters and Superintendent Jovito Canlapan will then take his post. Canlapan was previously assigned to headquarters operation division.

Mayor Valdemar Chiong of Naga City said  Gillamac visited his office informing him to relieve Delilis for he was not satisfied of his performance. Delilis served in Naga City for a month and few days. He had led two buy-bust operations  in Barangay Tuyan.

Chiong said  he has nothing to do with the decision of Gillamac because it is the latter's prerogative. He said he has no other comment on Delilis' performance.

"I am the kind of person nga kung maayo ka wala kay sayup aw magpabilin ka pero lisud pud nga moapil pa ko sa isyu bahin sa ilang organisasyon," Chiong told The Freeman.

In addition, Choing sent a letter-request to PNP organization to give them permanent chief of police so it could focus on curbing the criminality and illegal activities in the city.

Delilis, for his part, said he was supposed to implement more initiatives, especially to pin down illegal personalities but all of his plans now come to waste.

He said  he is a police official who follows the order of his higher official.

"Police officers may come and go. I am here to follow orders," Delilis said.

He said  if he will be given a chance to prove his performance then he will be grateful. — Gabriel C. Bonjoc of BANAT News
