Two men found dead in separate apartments
CEBU, Philippines – A 58-year-old American man was found dead inside his apartment in Lapu-Lapu City at 10 a.m. Sunday, after a 29-year-old maintenance worker was discovered dead inside another apartment, about four hours earlier.
The body of maintenance worker, identified as Emilio Elmetani, was found lifeless at around 6:30 a.m. inside an apartment along Umapad Street at Barangay Poblacion in Lapu-Lapu City.
Police Officer 2 Marven Saraum of the Lapu-Lapu City Police Office-Homicide Section said the victim’s co-worker, Roel Rojo, 27, first knocked at the door of Elmetani’s apartment but no one answered.
Rojo immediately called the owner of the apartment to borrow a duplicate key into Elmetani’s room but, as soon as the door opened, he saw the victim lying in a wooden bed with the mouth dripping with white fluids.
Hours later, the police received a call about an American man who was also found dead inside his apartment at the Raja Townhomes at Sitio Mahayahay, Barangay Bankal of Lapu-Lapu City.
The American, identified as Daryl Lee Larson, was found lying prone on the floor near the refrigerator, by the apartment caretaker, Rosie Paquibot.
Paquibot immediately asked for help and then called the Emergency Rescue Unit Foundation but Larson was unresponsive to the given first aid at the time.
Imelda Sosito, owner of the apartment, told the police Larson was allegedly an alcoholic and taking medication for his heart ailment. Several bottles of different alcoholic drinks were found inside Larson’s place.
Police investigators added there were no forced entry into the occupied apartments of the two victims, thus there could be no foul play involved.
The bodies of Elmetani and Larson were brought to the Rolling Hills Funeral Homes for autopsy to determine their real cause of death.
