CEBU, Philippines - For allegedly killing his neighbor, a man is facing charges before the court.

City Prosecutor II Eulogio Borres Jr. held for trial Rafael Suico alias "Paeng," a resident of Sitio Laguna, Barangay Basak-Pardo, Cebu City, for the crime of murder.

"…that on the basis of the sworn statement and other documents submitted before me there exists a reasonable ground to believe that the crime has been committed and that the accused is probably guilty thereof," the document read.

Borres said accused was given a chance to submit controverting evidence but failed. No bail was recommended for the temporary liberty of the accused.

Lovella Arcete, 38, of Sitio Laguna, said her husband, Dennis, was stabbed to death by the accused on August 8, 2014 at about 7:05 p.m.

While she was at her parent's house, she learned that her husband was stabbed and rushed to the hospital.

"I then proceeded to the hospital where my said husband who suffered fatal stab wounds was then declared dead on arrival by the attending physician," read the affidavit.

Arcete said it was on August 26, 2014 that she learned who the perpetrator was when her husband's aunt confessed to them.

Procopio Librando Jr. said he is a friend and neighbor of the victim who was stabbed to death by Suico.

He said while he was reading a newspaper, he saw Dennis heading to the house of his relatives shouting for help that he was stabbed by Paeng.

Librando said he executed an affidavit to support the filing of case against the accused.  (FREEMAN)
