P200T illegal drugs seized in joint raid
CEBU, Philippines – Regional police operatives swooped down on a Level 2 drug pusher and confiscated around P200,000 worth of suspected shabu in a drug raid Monday evening in Sitio Adelfa, Barangay Looc, Lapu-Lapu City.
Danielito Villarta, 42, was apprehended in a buy-bust operation by the joint elements of the Regional Special Operations Group - Regional Intelligence Division-7 and City Intelligence Branch/City Anti-Illegal Drugs Special Operation Task Group of Lapu-Lapu City Police Office.
For P1,000 in cash, Villarta allegedly handed five small packs of suspected shabu to a policeman who pretended to be a buyer.
The police recovered five small packs of drugs which were the subject of the sale, along with one big pack of suspected shabu, two medium packs of suspected shabu, six small packs of suspected shabu, the marked money and P1,000 cash believed to be his illegal proceeds.
They also seized a weighing scale and assorted drug paraphernalia.
Senior Inspector Ruel Burlat, team leader of the operation from RSOG-RID-7, said Villarta is considered to be a Level 2 drug pusher who can dispose 25 grams of prohibited drugs a week.
Burlat said they have placed Villarta under surveillance after receiving information that he is engaged into illegal drug trade in the area.
He said Villarta kept on moving to different places. The suspect was new in his current residence where he was arrested.
Burlat added that Villarta was just renting the place.
There were reports that he used to live in Barangay Lorega-San Miguel in Cebu City.
Burlat also disclosed that the suspect gets his supply of illegal drugs from Muntinlupa.
Last year, Villarta was also arrested for possession of illegal drugs.
Villarta, who is currently detained at Fuente Police Station, refused to comment.
He will face charges for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. — with Christell Fatima M. Tudtud
