METROPOLICE: Man dies in motel room
CEBU, Philippines - A 64-year-old man died inside a motel room in Lapu-Lapu City where he and an alleged minor girl checked in late Tuesday afternoon.
Enrique Ortega, a widower who lived in a subdivision in Barangay Basak, Lapu-Lapu City, was pronounced dead when he arrived at the hospital.
Investigation showed that Ortega, together with the 15-year-old girl, checked in that afternoon at Queensland Motel in Sitio Sangi, Barangay Pajo.
Police Officer 2 Jomar Florentino, investigator at the Homicide Section of Lapu-Lapu City Police Office, said they learned that Ortega's girl companion was minor during an interrogation later.
Ortega was about to take shower when he collapsed on bed, according to the girl's accounts. He was said to have a history of hypertension.
Florentino said they did not find any trace of foul play or open wounds on Ortega's body.
Still, the victim's body was subjected for autopsy. — Christell Fatima M. Tudtud (FREEMAN)
