Seniang-hit Ronda receives donations from Mandaue

CEBU, Philippines – The Mandaue City government gave food stuff to its sister town Ronda which was badly affected by tropical storm Seniang early this week.

Felix Suico, head of the City Risk and Reduction Management Office, and some of his staff delivered 50 sacks of rice, 50 cartons of assorted canned goods and 50 cartons of noodles and turned them over to Mayor Mariano Blanco last Friday.

According to Suic, the city immediately sent the said food stuff to Ronda town after city legal officer Giovanni Tianero called up Mayor Jonas Cortes to inform him that the city’s sister town badly needed help after it suffered the wrath of Seniang.

They left Mandaue city  at around 10 a.m. and arrived in Ronda past 12 p.m. despite difficulty in entering the town as some of its roads were damaged.

“Entrada pa lang sa Ronda, lisud nami og sud kay nangliki ang dalan, samot pa nga naa lang gihapon ang grabeng lapok pagsulod na gyud namo sa lungsod,” Suico said.

He was saddened with what he had seen as there are still houses whose living rooms were still covered with mud up to waist high.

Suico said even the municipal hall was badly affected with the flashfloods because it was still covered with mud when they arrived.

Luckily, a certain Atty. Gumaguing who owned a three storey building in front of the municipal hall, has allowed the residents to use his property as temporary evacuation.
