CEBU, Philippines – The grandmother of a 14-year-old girl whose parents were arrested by the operatives of National Bureau of Investigation two years ago for alleged cybersex asked the government and private groups to help her granddaughter pursue her education in college.

Nenita Ontong, a resident of Sitio Sun-ok, Barangay Ibabao in Cordova town in an exclusive interview with The Freeman, said her granddaughter wants to pursue her studies in college.

“Misulti nako ang akong apo nga gusto siya mopadayon sa iyang pagtungha sa college,” said Nenita Ontong.

She further said she cannot support her granddaughter because her husband is only a fisherman.

Nenita works as a barangay health worker of Barangay Ibabao.

She said after her granddaughter was out of custody from the Municipal Social Welfare Office, a municipal councilor helped them.

Cordova Municipal Councilor Roque Yburan provided support to the 14-year-old girl.

According to Nenita, when she visited her daughter-in-law at the Cebu Provincial Jail she asked her to support her daughter.

“Nahadlok si Eillen nga makonbikto sila sa kaso nga ilang giatubang ug mihangyo siya nako nga tabangan unta ang iyang anak nga makapadayon sa ilang pagtungha sa kolehiyo,” said Nenita.

She hopes the government and private individuals will provide support to her granddaughtetr.

She added that her granddaughter shows her interest to pursue her studies in college.

She also said despite of the incident, her granddaughter told her that she loves her parents.

The parents of the 14-year-old girl were arrested by the National Bureu of Investigation after they were allegedly involved in online prostitution.

Several minors, including their own daughter, were allegedly used by the couple in their online prostitution operations.

The couple were identified as Wilfredo Ontong and her wife Eileen Ontong.

The couple were charged of qualified human trafficking, child pornography, and child abuse before the Mandaue City Regional Trial Court.

They were also charged under the Electronic Commerce Act of 2000 or Republic Act 8792.

The couple are now detained at the Cebu Provincial Jail.
