CEBU, Philippines – After Cebuana Jaime Herrell was crowned Miss Earth 2014 Saturday, Lapu-Lapu City will be drafting a congratulatory resolution this week for the 20-year-old beauty queen.

Jose Dungog, president of the Association of the Barangay Councils, said a resolution will "surely be made for Herrell" since she is living in the city, specifically in Barangay Canjulao.

"Yes, we are very proud. Magpasar ang konseho og congratulatory resolution karong Wednesday," Dungog said.

Herrell won the Miss Earth title beating 83 other candidates from different countries in a glittering finals night at the University of the Philippines - Diliman Theatre.

Mayor Paz Radaza said she felt proud for Herrell for coveting the prestigious crown at a very young age.

"Resolution wise, naa gyud. We're so happy with Miss Jamie Herrell, giving honor to the city and complementing our city's new branding," Radaza said.

Before representing Cebu in the Miss Earth national finals, Herrell also bagged Sinulog Festival Queen in January 2013.

According to her Miss Earth profile, Think Twice is a "communications campaign that teaches people to think twice in finding alternatives in our everyday lives to protect and help Mother Nature."

"The first thing that I'm going to do is to push for my advocacy which is the Think Twice campaign that I started during Miss Philippines Earth wherein we go to schools for seminars and teach people to think twice and save our mother earth," Jamie said in an interview with ABS-CBN.com.

Herrell is the second Filipina beauty queen to win Miss Earth, following the footsteps of Karla Paula Henry who snagged the crown in 2008.

Herrell succeeded Miss Earth 2013 Alyz Henrich of Venezuela.
