Bike riders yield drugs
CEBU, Philippines – Two persons were arrested after they were caught transporting illegal drugs last Friday evening during a checkpoint at the M.C. Briones national highway in Barangay Subangdaku, Mandaue City.
They were identified as Janil Pepito, 27, of Barangay Lataban, Liloan town and Renato Canin, 47, of Zone Gabi in Barangay Paknaan, Mandaue City.
Both suspects were arrested by a team led by Police Inspector Ricky Calong, deputy chief of Subangdaku Police Station, during checkpoint at around 11:20 p.m. last Friday.
Police Officer 1 Fredilo Quezon said both suspects have just gone to Barangay Duljo, Cebu City to reportedly buy illegal drugs and have them repacked and sold.
Quezon said the suspects were stopped after both of them were found wearing no helmets while onboard a Yamaha Mio motorcycle.
The police asked for Pepito's driver's license but while he was trying to get it from his short pants, he yielded in his hand one medium pack of suspected shabu.
Both were then told to park by the roadside for further frisking. Another two medium packs of suspected shabu were seized from the possession of Canin.
Both suspects are currently detained at the Subangdaku Police Station pending the filing of violation of Section 11, Article 2 of RA 9165 against them.
