METROPOLICE: Minor nabbed for robbery
CEBU, Philippines - A 16-year-old was arrested Thursday morning in a Mandaue City mall after he allegedly stole cash and jewelry from the employer of his mother who works as a househelp.
The teen was arrested after Francesca Go, 80, of Barangay Sudlon, Mandaue City lost her P59,800 cash and several jewelry composed of four necklaces, four earrings, four rings, one pearl necklace, one pearl bracelet and one gold bracelet, which she all hid in a jewelry box in her closet.
Go immediately called up Lemon Go, his grandson, after she noticed that her jewelry box was already opened. This prompted the grandson to immediately call for police assistance.
The victim's suspicion that it was the son of his househelp who stole the said items was confirmed after the police were able to catch the suspect inside a mall in Barangay Ibabao.
When the suspect was cornered in the mall, the lost items were still in his possession, according to police.
When brought for interrogation at the Casuntingan Police Station, the suspect admitted to the police that he was able to gain entry to the victim's room by using the duplicate key given by the victim to the suspect's mother.
The suspect, being a minor, was turned over to the City Social Welfare Services Office in Mandaue City. (FREEMAN)
