Men on bike shoot 2

CEBU, Philippines – A 40-year-old man and his 14-year-old nephew landed in hospital after unidentified motorcycle-riding men shot them several times yesterday dawn in Barangay Buaya, Lapu-Lapu City.

Melvin Mondredondo and his nephew Clint Darel Abing, both residing in Sitio Saac 1, Barangay Buaya, Lapu-Lapu City, was rushed to Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center after they sustained gunshot wounds in the body.

Police investigation led by Senior Police Officer 1 Manolito Abellanosa of the Homicide Section revealed that prior to the incident, the victims were in a burger store waiting for their orders around 3 a.m. when suddenly motorcycle-riding men arrived and without any provocation, the back rider fired at the victims several times prompting the victims to scamper.

The suspects sped off towards Barangay Bankal and nobody was able to identify them as they were wearing helmets.  The victims were then brought by Emergency Rescue Unit Foundation ambulance to VSMMC for medical treatment.

Police believed that the motive of the shooting was drug-related because according to the barangay tanods in the place, Mondredondo is involved in illegal drug trade.
